1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Middle Class Finance, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. These terms are between you and Middle Class Finance LLC ("Middle Class Finance," "we," "us," or "our"). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account or use Middle Class Finance. By registering, you represent and warrant that you are 13 years of age or older. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under the age of 13, we will promptly delete their account and all associated data.

3. Description of Service

Middle Class Finance is a free personal finance tracking application that allows you to manage budgets, track transactions, monitor savings goals, and organize debt repayment. All data is manually entered by you — we do not connect to banks or financial institutions.

Middle Class Finance also offers a desktop application ("MCF Desktop") as an optional paid service. MCF Desktop includes a 30-day free trial. After the trial period, a paid subscription is required for full functionality. Without an active subscription, the desktop app operates in read-only mode — your data is preserved but you cannot add, edit, or delete entries.

4. Subscription Terms

• Free Trial: New desktop app users receive a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. No payment information is required to start the trial.
• Billing: Subscriptions are billed through Stripe. You may choose monthly or annual billing. Payments are processed securely — we do not store your payment information on our servers.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. After cancellation, you retain full access until the end of your current billing period. After that, the desktop app switches to read-only mode.
• Refunds: If you are unsatisfied, contact us within 14 days of your most recent payment for a full refund.
• Auto-Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You will not be charged after cancellation takes effect.
• Read-Only Access: When your subscription expires or is cancelled, your data is not deleted. You can view all your financial data in read-only mode. Resubscribing restores full access immediately.

5. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information when creating your account
• Keep your password secure and not share it with others
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
• Use a strong password that meets our security requirements

6. User Data & Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. We do not sell, share, or transmit your data to third parties. For full details on how we handle your data, please review our Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the service
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Use automated tools to access the service beyond normal usage
• Upload malicious content or attempt to exploit vulnerabilities

8. Not Financial Advice

Middle Class Finance is a budgeting and tracking tool only. Nothing in this application constitutes financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. We do not make recommendations about how you should manage your money. Always consult a qualified financial advisor for personalized financial guidance.

9. Intellectual Property

Middle Class Finance, including its code, design, branding, and documentation, is owned by Middle Class Finance LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You retain full ownership of any data you enter into the application. You may export your data at any time using the built-in export features.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We are not responsible for the accuracy of any calculations or data displayed within the application.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Middle Class Finance LLC and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the service. This includes, but is not limited to, any financial decisions made based on information displayed in the application.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these terms. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting Admin@middleclassfinance.app. Upon termination, all of your data will be permanently removed from our servers.

Accounts that have been inactive for 120 consecutive days may be permanently deleted, along with all associated data. Inactivity is defined as no login activity during that period. We recommend exporting your data regularly if you anticipate extended periods of inactivity.

Cancelling your desktop subscription does not affect your web app account. Your data remains accessible through the free web app and is available for export at any time.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the application. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Kansas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in the State of Kansas.

15. Service Availability

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Middle Class Finance, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service. We recommend exporting your data regularly using the built-in export features.

16. Dispute Resolution

Before filing any formal legal action, you agree to attempt to resolve any dispute with us informally by contacting us at Admin@middleclassfinance.app. We will attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days. If the dispute is not resolved within that period, either party may proceed with formal legal action in accordance with the Governing Law section above. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief or filing a claim in small claims court.
